March 2023
My website has been a constant part of my web presence for many years. When my old webhost got shut down it wasn’t a total shock. They’d had issues with outages and communication. When the last outage went on unaddressed for a bit too long, I called their phone number and left a message. I tried again the next day and the mailbox was full. It got put back up a while later, but I had already resolved to move house to a more reliable server.
I then proceeded to… not. Because that is how my brain works.
And then I saw some urgently worded emails that were, by that time, rather old, notifying me that my web host was no longer going to continue to host, and there were some instructions about how to secure my domain name and move it to a new platform. I resolved to take action immediately.
I then proceeded to… not.
And then I suddenly just didn’t have a website for a while. Oops.
But the other day, I opened up my laptop in a home with wifi, and I saw a browser tab I had left open to a new host I was considering, and since it was the eve of my weekend, I thought, wow, maybe I should deal with that tomorrow. But, just on the off chance, I typed my old domain in to see if it came up available.
IT WAS AVAILABLE.
I then proceeded to not only secure my old domain name and purchase hosting, but also throw up a wee upstart of a rudimentary placeholder website.
Goodness I feel relieved to have it in place. Who even am I if you can’t see a bit of my art on the internet? On the other hand, I do so many different things, who even am I if you can see lots of my art on the internet?
Anyway, thanks for stopping by ol’ buddy ol’ pal. Come around again soon (but not too soon) to see the updates.
Updates will be trickling in at the speed of “sometimes I proceed to… not, even though I wanted to.”
