Showgoer Art!

These are tiny marker-drawings created by people who came to my art shows while they were at the show. I really love the diversity of these sketches and I will continue to do this (or some variant) at future shows. Thanks to everyone who made one!

If you see your sketch, go tag yourself on Facebook!

Face to Face Was

A small but enthusiastic turnout made this, my very first ever self produced show, a success.

Here are a few photos, taken by my Dad, The Crazy Baker:

Face to Face – 11/11/11

YAY!
I’m super excited.

Before I even realized what I was doing, I booked a room at the Blacksburg, VA, community center and reserved some tables and a few chairs (all for a fraction of the cost of applying to a major art fair). Suddenly, I have an event on my hands, and I am excited about it.
There is now a definite focus for my imagination and my efforts. There is something to tell people about and a chance for strangers to see my work in person. There is no application, no hidden fees, and no waiting for a yes or no.
It is as if I finally found a gateway the shape of a future I want,
and the only gatekeeper is me.

This first little show hasn’t even happened yet, and I already have elaborate visions of future improvements on the theme. Next, I’ll hit my home town and my college town, and then move on to some nearby small cities, and spiral outward from there, having a better party each time.

So, if you are in Southern Virginia, come check out my first Pop-Up Art Party, on the 11th of November, 2011, at 7pm.
