Don’t tell the color version (posting in a couple days), but I think I like this one better. The hands are more expressive in black and white.

The Psycho Broody is the Chicken-Half of the artwork I recently did in honor of my brothers’ band, BrownChicken BrownCow StringBand. The band is currently running a Kickstarter fundraiser to replace “The Predator,” the van which has served them well… except for breakdown after breakdown all over the country.  Go check out the video and throw a few $$ their way by March 16, 2012, to get some cool rewards like the sticker, CDs, or Golden Tickets that will get you into any one of their shows for free.

The broody herself is informed by my childhood encounters with these protective egg layers, as I mentioned when I posted the progress report. Chickens can be pretty scary when they are taller than your knees.

The National Gemms are rich in NGafirr cultural significance, although they are not really gems, but glazed ceramic baubles. The list of folk heroes who are said to have at one time possessed one, three, or all of the National Gemms would fill a ledger, but the truth of their fate is unknown.

I do not have the lovely masculine shoulders that this fella does, but I do have a tan vest and I do have the problem of a deep black pit where all my money should be (up to my ribs, of course).

Safeguard your digits, folks, cause this game ain’t no fun.

Aren’t broody hens almost as terrifying as roosters? They may not be as mobile, but they are unavoidable; they sit right on top of the eggs you’ve been sent to collect. Quiet, still, and tilting their heads to make their eyes face you. Beware the broody’s beak.
